Developing a Local Industrial Strategy for Lancashire

Steer Economic Development is working with the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership and its partners to develop its Local Industrial Strategy.

Simon Pringle is Project Director, and Scott Dickinson, is Project Manager, Specialist input is provided by Fiona Tuck, Associate, on labour market and skills, Josh Stott, Associate, on infrastructure and inclusive growth, and Dr. Mark Matthews, Special Advisor, on innovation and sectors. Caitriona Lacy, Consultant, provides analytical and mapping expertise.

The work has been commissioned by Lancashire LEP as part of England-wide activity to develop Local Industrial Strategies for every LEP area. LIS’s identify evidence on local strengths, drivers and constraints on productivity and growth, based on the five foundations of growth (People, Ideas, Business Environment, Infrastructure and Place) and the four Grand Challenges (AI/Data, Ageing, Clean Growth, Future Mobility).

The key deliverables are:

  • A Baseline Review, which will include a sector analysis and a SWOT analysis;
  • A Strategic Vision and Framework of Intent;
  • An Action Plan; and
  • A Local Industrial Strategy, with four to six key propositions.
