My professional career started quite early, during my first years of university. At the time, Colombia was facing serious economic problems and I needed to work and study at the same time. Looking back, it was the best thing for me as the job I had was at the transport research program at the National University of Colombia.
After four years working on the research program, I wanted to understand more about how the government worked and moved to TransMilenio, the government office in charge of Bogota’s Bus Rapid Transit system. It was a transformational experience in every aspect and gave me a better understanding of institutional and social challenges in our cities.
Four years later, a company was working with us on some interesting projects – Steer Davies Gleave! Working with their professional and enjoyable team made me take the opportunity to go and understand consultancy and the private sector. It has been an amazing journey! During the first years working on many interesting projects including two large assignments in our new office in Mexico. In 2011, surprise, surprise I was moving with my husband to Mexico City! I will always remember reading the constitution in my flight! Maybe deep in my heart, I knew Mexico was going to be my home for more time than initially expected.
My time at Steer has been incredible for many reasons. I’ve found opportunities in an environment that is very aligned with my values, including those of equality and diversity. Here I am leading our Mexico team and our operations in LATAM, still with many challenges and interesting perspectives ahead.
