James has over 11 years’ experience working across a diverse range of economic development areas in the public and private sectors.
James joined Steer Economic Development from Selby District Council, where he was ‘Head of Economic Development & Regeneration’. His multi-disciplinary service covered business support, inward investment, housing development, urban design, policy/strategy and partnership management and was recognised by the Local Government Association for ‘punching above its weight’. James also previously led the Council’s planning function.
Before this, James coordinated economic strategy and performance at East Riding of Yorkshire Council and began his career in consultancy.
James uses his leadership background to support public sector clients in the review and evaluation of economic development projects, programmes and partnerships, and in the development of new strategies, policies and service delivery options.
